Mineral Sizers
Next‑Generation Energy‑Efficient Crushing Technology
Mineral sizers are redefining energy‑efficient crushing across the mining, metallurgy, chemical and coal industries. Designed for coarse and intermediate reduction of brittle bulk materials, sizers accept feed sizes up to 630 mm and deliver controlled discharge sizing down to 80 mm, handling materials with compressive strengths up to 160 MPa.
Suitable for a wide range of commodities, including coal, limestone, clay ore, iron ore, gold ore, uranium ore, nickel ore, bauxite and talc, mineral sizers use a shearing and stretching mechanism rather than traditional impact or compression. This results in:
- Reduced fines
- Minimal over‑grinding
- Lower energy consumption
- Improved downstream efficiency
Low‑speed operation and specialised tooth geometry further enhance reliability and extend wear life.
Direct Drive Crushing Sizers
Direct Drive Sizers, including the globally recognised McLanahan range, deliver primary, secondary and tertiary reduction of friable, low‑silica materials such as:
- Coal
- Salt
- Gypsum
- Phosphate
- Limestone
- Bauxite
- Petroleum coke
- Lignite
- Trona
- Carbon anodes
- Oil sands
- Clay and shale
With a lower height and smaller footprint than conventional primary crushers, mineral sizers are ideal for underground operations with restricted headroom.
Hard Rock Capability: Myth vs Reality

For many years, sizers were considered suitable only for soft rock.
That belief is now outdated.
Over the past decade, TCC Sizers, China’s leading sizer technology innovator, has driven major advancements in hard‑rock sizer performance through intensive R&D investment.
Breakthrough Hard‑Rock Tooth Technology
At the centre of this evolution is TCC’s advanced hard‑rock sizer tooth system, engineered for strength, durability and consistent particle output.
Performance Highlights:
- Crushes hard ore up to UCS 250 MPa
- Optimal performance on medium–hard ores
- Exceptional wear life:
- Up to 3.5 Mt throughput per tooth set (primary)
- Up to 2.5 Mt per tooth set (secondary)
- In a 2 Mtpa operation, teeth typically last two years
These advancements position sizers as a credible, efficient alternative to jaw and gyratory crushers for medium‑hard ore applications, delivering high reliability, reduced energy use and even‑particle throughput.
As a result, more engineering houses are now incorporating sizers into the crushing section of modern flowsheets.

See the Technology in Action
“Seeing is better than hearing.”
ARC-Vanture welcomes your enquiries to showcase site visits to active operations where the technology is running in real‑world conditions.
If you’re unsure whether a TCC Sizer suits your ore, simply provide ARC-Vanture your UCS, CWi and Ai data, or request free sample testing. We will analyse your material and provide a detailed performance assessment.
